In March 2014, Lucent became the proud jersey sponsor of the Kamloops Rugby Club Women’s Team. This was one way of giving back to Pam’s hometown and Erin’s favourite sport. After an undefeated spring season, the Raiders finished their 2013 season by winning the Div 1 Women’s title. These tough women are certainly deserving of some new gear! Pictured below is the debut of the team’s new threads… before and after a wet, muddy game against United Rugby Club. The Raiders came out with a win 53-12.
In summer 2012, Lucent was the proud sponsor of three Harbour seals rescued by the Vancouver Aquarium. The Lucent team was invited to the Aquarium’s Marine Mammal Rescue Centre’s Open House in August and fell for Salmon, Denim and Pixie Powder, three newly-rescued seals at the Centre.
The Marine Mammal Rescue Centre (MMR) rescues ill, injured, or abandoned marine mammals and rehabilitates them before releasing them back to their natural habitat, and educates the public on how to respond to apparently stranded or diseased marine mammals. With the help of their many dedicated volunteers, the Centre is able to rescue over 150 animals every year!
The concrete lions that welcome westbound traffic onto the Lions Gate Bridge were crafted at Ital Decor in Burnaby, British Columbia for the opening of the bridge in the 1930s.
The bridge, named for the two North Shore mountain peaks, affectionately known as “The Lions”, created a link to North and West Vancouver, forever changing the face of the region.
